Lisa hails from Ogilvy & Mather Advertising in Toronto, where she rose to Managing Partner: Head of Account Service & Consumer Insight. She ran the IBM business, the Agency’s largest, as well as managing accounts including American Express, Kraft, Campbell’s, Mattel, Kimberly-Clark, WWF, banking & real estate.
She was instrumental in rolling-out “Brand” management across Ogilvy and led the Agency’s training programs. She created the in-house Consumer Inspiration Centre, with Ogilvy arguably being the first Agency to engineer consumer input into its creative development process.
In 1996, bitten by the consumer bug, Lisa founded heads up: Inspiration from Information®, building it into a small collaborative team of passionate professionals.
A self-described “wolf in sheep’s clothing”, Lisa combines a powerful strategic acumen with a gentle consumer approach. Lisa often has marker-in-hand to facilitate clients to an agreed path going forward. Her passion for qualitative research being actionable has resulted in noteworthy training workshops, speeches and articles.
Married with two children, Lisa is bemused by the fact that she sometimes knows more about complete strangers than members of her own family.
Meagan has been uncovering insights as a Marketing Researcher for over 13 years. The seed was planted at a very early age! Canadian-born, she became completely fascinated with people through her global travels, as her parents bounced around South Asia, the United States, Europe and Canada.
Meagan left the nomadic life to return to her homeland, earning a degree in Psychology and Anthropology at the University of Toronto. From there it was an easy leap to qualitative research, where she’s been happily immersing herself in consumers’ lives ever since.
Having worked with Martin Goldfarb (Goldfarb Consultants) and Research International Canada, Meagan joined Lisa Elder and heads up with the aim of pushing the boundaries of consumer research through truly innovative, best-in-class methodologies.
Meagan brings sound strategic thinking and actionable insights to every project she’s a part of. Her Anthropology background means Ethnography / In-Situ research is dear to her heart, but she’s a lover of all things qualitative, having worked with all manner of clients across a wide range of categories.
When she’s not working, Meagan can be found cooking far too much food then giving it away to family and friends, or conducting impromptu dance parties to songs from ‘Frozen’ with her son and daughter.
Gagan is part of the heads up: Inspiration from Information® team in Western Canada. She moved to Calgary from Toronto seven years ago.
After obtaining her Master’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Toronto, Gagan joined EKOS Research Associates’ Toronto Office as part of the Public Affairs group. In addition to conducting both qualitative and quantitative research, she was also tasked to further establish and grow the Toronto office’s practice. Following EKOS, she joined Cundari, eventually helping lead the consumer research for the Agency. She joined the heads up group five years ago.
Gagan has worked in a wide range of sectors and industries, including Retail, Financial Services, CPG, Energy Services, Telecommunications, Education, Healthcare, Utilities, and Charities.
With over 15 years experience, Gagan brings a unique blend of qualitative and quantitative research experience to help find hidden answers and uncover ‘human truths’. Watching clients have an “ah ha” moment is one of her favourite parts of the job. Her joy of research can be traced back to childhood where her mother will say that Gagan – much to everyone’s amusement – was constantly questioning the motivations and actions of everyone around her.
Outside of work, you’ll find Gagan in the gorgeous Rocky Mountains hiking, skiing, biking & relaxing with her husband, daughter and puppy.

Quantitative research was where Eleni began but not where she belonged. After graduating and working for a few years, she made the switch from quantitative to qualitative research and joined heads up in 2012.
As a graduate of the Ontario College of Art & Design and Georgian College’s Research Analyst Program, she has the ability to fuse creativity and analytical thinking to visualize data and bring it to life for clients. With a passion for online research methods, she loves to bring the consumer voice to life through engaging reports, tell-all imagery and video reporting.
A self-proclaimed artist, Eleni always loves to wear her ‘creative’ hat. When her work day is over, you can find her with a paint brush in hand, at a fitness class or taking in a concert.
Pat spent his first career selling millions and millions of boxes to manufactures in the Southern Ontario market. A true testament to his selling abilities…all of them were empty.
Pat’s second career is working ‘behind the scenes’ at heads up. He manages the Company’s finances and ensures day-to-day operations run smoothly. He interacts with clients and suppliers through managing contracts and invoicing, as well as helping the team prep for any of their unique project sessions.
Pat chases his passion on the golf course. The sport, the camaraderie, the fresh air, and the perception he is still improving are what drives this passion. He’ll ski, play tennis, play baseball, hockey, just ask him. Early mornings on the dock and all things ‘cottage’ make him very happy.
Pat considers his family to be his crowning achievement – a father of two wonderful girls and a thriving 30+ year marriage to Lisa.
